Legal Question in Tax Law in New York

Hi - I'm no longer working full-time and starting to build a series of freelance, marking consulting projects. While I can enter these as an independent contractor under my name, I do also see value and security in creating an LLC or S-Corp. In addition to consulting, I do (low volume) e-commerce sales on Amazon. What would you recommend as far as setting something up thats pretty basic and straightforward at the moment, but also builds the right foundation for growth into the future (as I take on more consulting projects and potentially launch different brands on Amazon). Thank you very much!

btw - I live in NYC but understand that their may be tax benefits to registering a company in another state (e.g. Delaware).

The presumption that it's better to form out of state is not always correct. Because of your future multiple projects your situation is unique enough to require a consultation. Though some attorneys charge an arm and a leg, instead I offer LawGuru users a low flat fee to advise on proper incorporation. The total cost is very similar to legalzoom and the likes.
