Legal Question in Tax Law in New York

Am I Required to pay Federal Income Taxes

After review several papers on the voluntary federal income tax, I have several questions, but I will limit this to just one. I have not fully read in entirety the Internal Revenue Code or either of the 18 U.S.C. 1621 and 26 U.S.C. 7206. I have read excerpts in several places and would like a more detailed explanation of exactly who is legaly required to file a compulsary Federal Income Tax Return. I am not involved in the manufacture distribution or sale of alcohol, fire arms or tabacco, and I am not now, nor ever was a resident of the Virgin Islands, or have I ever taken part in the illegal sail of controlled substances. I am, however, in the US Navy, and as such may be considered a Federal empoyee.

Thank you.

Re: Am I Required to pay Federal Income Taxes

I HAVE read the passages you list and many more.

I don't work for the IRS (nor even claim to like them!); I fight them on behalf of my clients, tooth and nail as needed. I just got a settlement check last week from the IRS.

But there are some people in jail and many more greatly impoverished by having taken the position you are being encouraged to take.

You are being misled and tricked by people who are most likely lying on purpose though in some cases they believe their misinformation. Don't believe a word of it.
