Legal Question in Tax Law in New York

Shool taxes was raised by $1100 a year due to unfair Assesment of the property

Shool taxes on my property has raised by $1100 since last year. I don't want let assesors from the TownHall into my house. I offered independent appraisal of my property that was held 1 month ago. They won't accept it. Is there a way a can dispute new Assesment on my property without letting Assessors in the house?

While your appraisal may be valid, the community has the right to verify by physical inspection. This is particularly so if internal improvements have been made to the property. If you refuse admittance, they can make the assessment (somewhat arbitrary) and your recourse would be to appeal the taxes. I suggest you permit the inspection, at a time convenient to you, as meeting with the assessor personally may actually be to your benefit if there are any questions on how the appraisal and assessment were made. This could also be helpful if you still decide to take an appeal as you can reference your meeting.
