can the IRS take your whole paycheck if there is a levy? i thought they could take something like 10% of it. if they do take the whole thing.....how are we suppose to live?

They can not take your entire paycheck, but they will take a significant amount. If you are single with no dependants, they will leave you about $165.00 a week. Obviously, that is not enough to live on. They usually levy to get your attention. Your only recourse is to make the IRS a deal. You may be eligible for an Offer in Compromise, an Installment Plan, or to have your account put into Currently Not Collectable. Unfortunately, the levy will stay until you do something.
