Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

1180D speeding ticket

I got my first ticket for 80 in a 65mph zone in Oswego, NY. I live in White Plains. Can I get trial to take place at a court in White Plains rather then Oswego? Also, I hold a Canadian licence - what does it mean for me? What can be done in my situation? Thank you so much.

Re: 1180D speeding ticket

Unfortunately, you cannot transfer your case from Oswego to Westchester County. The case will be heard up on Oswego.

As a Canadian driver, you should be aware that any conviction in New York will transfer to your Ontario license. Ontario, in turn, will assess demerit points on your Ontario license as if the infraction occurred in Ontario. Therefore, given the severe insurance consequences of this type of ticket, we recommend fighting it.

We can help reduce and possibly eliminate points all together. We represent many Ontario drivers with New York tickets. In fact, you can visit our web site to view pages devoted to your particular situation. See www.nytrafficticket.com.

Or, feel free to call us at 212@6837373.

Hope this helps.

We would usually get that reduced to something that does not count for points in Ontario. We'd save you about $100 in fines and 3 demerit points. Our fee is $500, so it's only worth it if you need a clean record there.
