Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
What happens?
After an accident both parties agree not to file a police report and ten days pass by, is the party that is supposely at fault still liable to compensate the other party for the damages? New York City states that a police report cannot be made after ten days. If not liable, what happens?

Re: What happens?
If the damages are over a particular amount, a police report is required by law. Someone could be guilty of a felony.
The report or lack of a report has no impact on who must pay for what. However, in the absence of a police report, a court may not permit any action to recover damages.
