Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Court Today- Suspended license/ registration
I'm not sure what I should plea when before the judge.
I recieved a suspended license and registration for bouncing a check when registering my vehicle. The bounce check was due to my husband wiping out my bank account right before he left me and the kids.
When I recieved the letter I mailed in another check to avoid the suspensions. I was then pulled over and recieved these tickets with a court date. I figured all was good and was waiting for the check to clear so I could mail in the proof and be done.
Well the check was never presented. I have since mailed in a money order to make up for the bounced check.
So? My question is............what is my plea? I had knowledge of the suspension and I had thought it was taken care of.

Always plead not guilty. You cannot work out a deal if you do not.

Re: Court Today- Suspended license/ registration
I would recommend a plea of not guilty.A competent criminal defense attorney can help either setting up a defense or entering into a plea bargain which will not affect you future or give you a criminal record. I handle these matters on a daily basis and would like to discuss this with you.You may call my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
Re: Court Today- Suspended license/ registration
Plead "not guilty" by all means. Do not admit to anything. Often, these cases are resolved by some type of plea bargain. You usually will have to clean up your suspensions but the Court should be willing to offer you some reduced charge. Often, we get this charge reduced to a simple unlicensed. The difference between aggravated unlicensed and unlicensed is that the former is a misdemeanor while the latter is only a violation (and a lower fine too).
