Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

damage to my car

i was parked in a public park yesterday, and it was the opening ceremony, so the park had people directing parking. i was told to park in a parking spot with a blue wire hanging out. i asked the guy if it was safe and the guy had told me it was okay. so when i was leaving, this blue wire had ripped off my bumper as i backed out. i had the chief of police look at it, as well as hundreds of witnesses. both the police and town officials said it was my fault for parking there, yet i was directed to park there. i need to know if i am at fault, and if not, who do i go after for compensation?

Public Park, Public or private employee? You can seek compensation through a number of avenues if your version of events is accurate and supported. Your damages may not be substantial enough to make this case attractive to an attorney but you should consult with a local guy to determine where to file and if you must first file a notice of claim with the municipality.
