Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Disobeyed traffic control device
If a road is closed and there is a road that you need to get on between both road closings, are you allowed to go through the closed road to get to the next road? I know with a road closed that if you are a resident of that road, then you can proceed. Am I right on that too? More importantly, If your job is located on that road are you able to proceed through to that buisness?

Usually if you can provide a reason why you should be on that road ie work then there is not a problem. Is it a defense? I guess it might depend on the judge. I could not find any appellate law on point for you in NY.
Remember, you have a better chance in Nassau than in Suffolk or in the city if you should get the ticket.

Road closed means the road is not open...unless it says local traffic only.

It sounds like you violated the sign but I would still fight this ticket. There are many ways to beat such tickets. It really depends in which court the case is to be heard. See www.nytrafficticket.com for many helpful traffic tips. Or call me for help. Our goal is to make fighting this matter as un-complicated as possible.
