Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Dui
My friend just got a DUI. I was the only passenger. The police searched him and found marijuana. Did they then have a right to search me? Could I press charges? (I did not give consent for search and I had nothing illegal on me)

Press charges? For what? Being searched? What were your damages? The inconvenience of being searched? You want to stand in front of a jury and ask for money because you were patted down? The police have a right to search the interior of the car incident to arrest. You were properly searched.
