Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
flat tire and damaged rim
I was travelling down Rte 9 through Poughkeepsie and I ran over a 6''-8'' bolt that must have fallen off the overpass above the road. This bolt went through my tire AND my rim damaging them both. I had to get a new tire and a new rim costing me $530. My question is, is the state responsible for this since they own the road? If not is anybody?
thank you

Re: flat tire and damaged rim
chalk this up to your tough luck .. to sue the statew you must file a notice of claim and then sue in the Cour of Claims. But that presumes that you can prove they the State knew of the condition in order to make them liable.
Good Luck
