Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

Hello:

I travel a lot for business, as well as attend college (NY driver). I have had no accidents or any or kind of problems or violations before (clean record till now). I recently got pulled over speeding. 84 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. Town of Sidney, NY. HWY 88. 1180d. I asked for professional curiosity. The officer didn't want to hear it. I was very polite and professional at all times and apologized. What should I do? I more concerned about the record and the insurance then the short term fines.

UPDATE: Offered 1110a. 2pts. Don't know the fine amount--TBD by court. Don't know the insurance ramifications. Are there better plea possibilities. Should I try to fight it further??

Thank You,

Jack

VTL 1110a is Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, a 2 point violation. You were facing a 4 point violation. You can try to fight it but you will need to appear, get a local attorney and most likely lose. I would take it if I were you. Take the New York State Defensive Driving Course, you can even take it on line now, that will remove up to 4 points from your license and give you a 10% reduction on your insurance.
