Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

inspection ticket

im an upstate new york grad student and i usually walk everywhere all the time and avoid driving in snow at all costs so the fact that my car sitting in my apartment parking lot had an overdue inspection sticker all winter completely slipped my attention. especially since the last one to have gotten it inspected was my dad...i know i have to learn these thing eventually. but anyway i got an inspection ticket when i finally decided to drive a little further out of town when the weather got better this spring. i was told to plead not guilty by friends and peers, send my new inspection paperwork immediately, get a court date and explain my case...so thats what im planning but am i just making it worse for myself?? will i end up just making it more costly? what's the likelihood that my fine will get dismissed -any?? (no previous violations ever, not even a speeding ticket or red light - knock on wood)

Re: inspection ticket

Pleading not guilty and requesting a hearing is always recommended. The driver can benefit by having a hearing. More often, however, the ticket can be resolved through the mail with minimal time on your part. Hiring an experienced traffic attorney in the NY that understands the intricacies of the vehicle and traffic law, will help keep your insurance premiums lower for years to come. Paying a little today may save you two or three times in the future.

Our firm handles these types of issues and would be happy to help. I would need to review the ticket and see what can be done. Please contact my firm and I would be happy to assist.
