Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Can your lisence be revoked if you get in a no fault acccident?
I was useing a friends car to drive to work one day (he was aware and gave me permission) and I hit another car backing out of the driveway. Because that car was parked on the wrong side of the street the police called it a no fault accident. Since I did notifiy the police as soon as it happened. Now DMV is revoking my lisence for a year with a $500 fine because they claim the car did not have insurence. If there wasn't I had no idea. The only thing I do know is when the guy gave me the car he signed the title over a week before the accident so the his insurence wouldn't go up. I thought that to cover my butt I would but the correct date on when I registered the car.
Can DMV really do this even though I had no idea he didn't have insurence in fact he stated he had because I was helping pay for it.

No Fault has nothing to do with your license...no fault is an insurance on your policy that pays for injuries to you or your passengers in an accident with out regard to whose fault the accident was, therefore the name no fault. If you lose the license, it is for reasons involved in the happenin gof the accident...not the no fault.
Good Luck
