Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
I live in NYC, and my boyfriend was driving my car and at the red light a lady was crossing and crossed in front of the car then proceeded to run back when the light turned green, and ran into my car and fell. my boyfriend got out of the car and asked the woman if she was ok and if she needed to go to the hospital which she responded no shes ok. my boyfriend then left. I got a call 3 days later from the police stating that my car was involved in a possible hit and run. which the lady did say that my boyfriend did stop to help her..DO i need legal help, what is the correct action for me to take now going forward.thank you

You should notify your auto insurance carrier in case the woman sues you. Under NY law both the driver and the owner can be liable. In addition, your boyfriend should retain a criminal defense lawyer. Neither you nor your boyfriend should speak with the police because anything said can be used against your boyfriend in court.
I agree with the prior answer, first you must REPORT THE INCIDENT TO BOTH YOUR INSURANCE CO AND TO THE DMV. SECOND CONTACT A CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY AND DO NOT MEET WITH POLICE WITHOUT YOUR ATTORNEY PRESENT.YOU MAY CONTACT MY OFFICE FOR A FREE PHONE CONSULTATION @ 7188340087.
