Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

On night of September 6,2012

Approximately 12:30pm I was heading home from work when I was suddenly be followed by an unmarked vechiles then I later realize it was a patrol car when turn on his patrol lights. He pulled over at 233rd which was the following exit coming up. Two officers approached my vechile one on the passenger side and one on the driver side.

1st officer: said he was from the speeding department I could really hear him to clearly because of all the oncoming traffic passing by.He asked for my license.i gave it to him.As both officers started to walk away from my car I asked him if he wanted my registration for the car and he said yeah I'll take that too.

Then that had me wondering why wouldn't he want my registration or my insurance papers.

It's just as important as my license.

2-3 minutes later one of the officers came back to the car and presented me with a ticket and said drive safe.

When I went home and reviewed the ticket it said I was doing 83 in a 50 mile zone and I also notice he wrote the wrong color car on the ticket.

The point I'm trying to make out here is that when he pulled me over he didn't tell me how fast I was going

There was enough visible light to see the color of my car and it said it on my registration paper and I'm sure he ran my plate number and it would also say the color of my car.all of this made my question was I really going that fast or did he just make it up.

I know if I lose this case it's 8 points on my license and I already have 2 from a prior ticket which adds up to 10 points.will my license be suspended if so how long?

This happened in the state of New York in the Bronx.
