Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
I was pulled over in Lake George for going 50 mph on a 30 mph area. He reduced it to "disobeying a traffic device" charge. After driving by the same area again I see that the speed limit is actually 45 mph. So the officer was mistaken? Should I bring this up in court, or just pay the fine?

The office gave you what is called a "roadside reduction." This usually means he was sympathetic and wrote you ticket for 2 point violation instead of speeding. If you have nothing on licence in the last three years my experience is that a 2 point violation will not increase your insurance. It will not increase any DMV fees if your license is clean. If you were my client, I would advise you to take the plea to the ticket of Disobeyed a Traffic Control Device. He already gave you a break and the prosecutor will know that and is unlikely to give you any further reduction, in my opinion.
