Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
I was pulled over yesterday not realizing my NYS inspection had expired. I told the officer I've been sick and also helping care for my mother in law who just passed from cancer on Christmas day, He handed me a summons to appear in court at the end of the month. I dropped off my car today and it will be taken care of tomorrow. My question is with my circumstances and having my car up to date by the time I have to appear is there any chance the judge will waive whatever fine comes with this? Do I get any points on my license for this?

The answer to your question depends upon where the summons is returnable. If it is criminal court ,you can plea bargain &have; the fine reduced ,especially if it was corrected a short time after the expiration. If the summons is returnable to traffic violations Bureau then there are no points but there is also no plea bargaining & the fine will not be reduced. You can contact my office @ 718-834-0087 for a free phone consultation.
