Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

I recently received a drivers license suspension letter from DMV for failure to answer summons for a ticket I received 8 months ago for equipment failure (no mirror on a delivery vehicle up to 18' in length) on a truck that I drive for my company. I am not a commercial driver and was also new to driving the box trucks so I was unaware of this regulation. The day that I received my ticket I told my manager about it and he said "Sign it and give it to me, we'll (implying the company) take care of it and pay the fines." So I did, and apparently the ticket was misplaced and never got sent in.

So my question is, If my license gets suspended am I at fault for letting a ticket with my name on it get misplaced or will I have the right to sue/settle with either my company or manager for the cost of getting my license suspended (i.e. increased insurance rates, transportation costs to/from work, loss of position/pay due to inability to drive, ect...)

The issue is not who is ultimately financially responsible, but how can it be resolved. If you get caught driving with a suspended license you may be arrested. Answer the summons, move to vacate the suspension and then worry about the financial aspect. You as the named defendant are responsible for the original summons.I handle these situations regularly with fine results. You may contact my office @7188340087.
