It is a six point violation if you are found guilty. With that comes a DMV assessment fees and fines...plea not guilty and hire a lawyer. Where were you caught speeding i.e. What county?

Definitely plead not guilty. This is the only way to possibly save points, money and a possible insurance hike. In most courts, you or your NY traffic ticket lawyer, can negotiate a plea bargain to a lesser charge.

We cover the entire state of New York and, if you hire us, you likely will not have to appear in court. Feel free to call us. We're open today (Monday).

While I respect my colleagues answers, the real answer depends upon where the summons was issued. If the ticket was issued within the 5 counties of NYC then the hearing is held @ Traffic Violations Bureau . At these hearings THERE IS NO PLEA BARGAINING and the only result s are guilty or not guilty. The burden of prevailing is difficult but not impossible. If the summons was issued elsewhere then plea bargaining is a real possibility. I will be happy to speak with you. Please contact my office @ 7188340087.

I agree that your ability to negotiate depends on where the ticket was given to you. My general recommendation is to plead not guilty. In some cases, you should ask for a supporting deposition. Pleading guilty automatically will give you the points, fine, insurance rate increase, extra fines from DMV. Either way, it would help if, after dealing with the ticket, you take a driver safety course.
