Does section 1201 nys vehicle and traffic law apply on a residential street?

The simple answer to your question is no, it should not apply to a vehicle on a residential street. That being said, the statute states residential district. You must find out if your street or the street you were parking on is considered to be within a residential district and if the statute applies to your area.
