Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Worried about a prior unpaid ticket.
Five years ago my husband was ticketed for driving without a license. He never appeared in court or paid the ticket. This year he was ticket for having an open bottle of beer in his hand. He is going to court to pay for this ticket , but is worried that he will be arrested for the prior ticket. Will he be arrested?

Re: Worried about a prior unpaid ticket.
My first answer to you is that before he goes to court to pay for any ticket he should discuss this case with a lawyer. There may be issues warranting a dismissal. (For example, it may have been an illegal stop and if so the case can be potentially dismissed.)
As to his matter from 5 years ago, it would appear that a bench warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear in court. I suggest that you hire an attorney that can negotiate a package deal for your husband.
I do give a free consultation and would be very happy to discuss this further with you.
