Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
After 4 years of waiting for my fathers estate to settle, the court date keeps getting pushed back. My sister is the executor and I have a feeling she is keeping the estate open as long as possible so she can bleed the account before closing it and distributing the final amount of money. Do I have any rights, as an inheritor of my fathers estate, to demand for my percentage of the estate to be distributed and to see the accounting?

Yes. Your attorney should investigate.

You or your attorney need to bring a proceeding in the Surrogate's Court for an accounting.

I agree - compel a prompt accounting and distribution, if all aspects of the estate are completed.
