administrator

what does the administrator of the estate do.do they have to file all the papers for probate court. is the adminstrator usually a lawyer.?

Yes, the administrator must file the nececarry paper work with the court in order to qualify. S/he is usally the surviving spouse or adult child.

Normally, an attorney assists in smoothing the way and preparing the forms.

The Administrator (the person who handles the estate where there is no Will), usually does everything, from taking control of assets, paying all final bills, filing any income, estate and/or inheritance tax returns, accounts to the heirs and arranges, when everything is completed, to distribute remaining assets. Usually a lawyer and accountant assist. The closest living relative is usually appointed, with spouse having priority over children.
