Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Administrators

The following statement is issued by the Surrogates's Court:

''The fiduciary must also comply with strict requirements for notifying persons who have a legal interest in the estate of any matters which may affect those interests. It is the responsibility of the executor or administrator to manage the estate carefully''.

Q: What are the ''strict

requirements'' to notify? Where can a list be found?

(There is not one on the Court site)

many thanks for your help

Re: Administrators

The word "strict" does not practically refer to a list of items, per se, but does require that a fiduciary provide information to people named in a Will or other document administered by the Surrogate and/or who may have a legal interest in an estate. Failure to provide appropriate notice and information can lead to possible litigation and/or sanctions against the fiduciary. The web site does tell a fiduciary what they are required to do, although in general terms.
