Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Adminstering the estate

I plan to file to become administratix of my father's estate. There are two creditors that I know of (a mortgage company and a credit card company). Do I need to give notice to these creditors when I file to become adminstrator? If so, what kind of notice is necessary? (Not sure if they are necessary parties... do they have a right to contest me becoming adminstrator? do I have to print something in the newspaper or send them direct notice?)

You can get the forms at Queens County Surrogate's Court. If you need help, the clerk may assist you. If not, I'm in Queens several days a week. Creditors are notified after you are appointed.
