i was appointed executor of an estate in NEW YORK. What form do I sue to transfer property and what do I do if there is a mortgage on the property?

I agree with Roman that a local probate attorney be retained to assist you. Not having seen the Will under which you were appointed, I do not know what powers and authorities you may have, separate and apart from what the appointment allows you to do. Taxes may have to be paid, debts paid off, including the mortage, if any, and a slew of other responsibilities. While you might be able to do many of the things yourself, it is best to have professional and knowledgeable assistance.
