Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My aunt died and left her estate (tod) to charities and her coop to my brother and I. Does the estate have to go thru probate before I can get the short certificate as executor of the estate (as stipulated in the will)?

The answer is yes and the procedure and most forms you will need can be found on the Surrogate's web site or you can call them. This must be done in the County where your aunt resided when she died.
