Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Co-executors

I was never made aware of the fact I was listed as a Co-executor on my Father's Will...or the Will itself.

My sister was also listed as a Co-executor...she and her husband WERE aware of the Will... Now they own his house.

I later learned my sister and my brother-in-law, helped my father up two stories to the lawyers office, were the will was written.

I have a gutt feeling my brother-in-kept his mouth shut in the office and the lawyer felt, he was me. The lawyer and my father have since passed.

Should my Father's Lawyer have notified me to the wills exsistence? Or at least varified my brother-in-laws ID?

Thanks For Your Time

Re: Co-executors

IF YOU WERE LISTED AS CO-EXECUTOR IN THE WILL THAT WAS PROBATED AND NEVER AFFORDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO QUALIFY, YOU SHOULD GET COPIES OF THE QUALIFICATION PAPERS AND A COPY OF THE WILL FROM THE SURROGATE'S OFFICE, TO SEE WHAT WAS DONE. YOU DO NOT SAY HOW MUCH TIME HAS PASSED SINCE THE WILL WAS PROBATED. AS YOU MAY HAVE SOME CLAIMS, BUT YOU NEED TO ACT QUICKLY AS THERE ARE TIME LIMITATIONS ON CONTESTING A WILL. I SUGGEST YOU GET A GOOD LOCAL ESTATE ATTORNEY TO ASSIST YOU.
