Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

court order to correct death certificate

I really need to know how to make a correction to my father's death certificate? Is their any Lawyer out their that can help us? The spouse information is incorrect. Apparently, the correct spouse name needs to be on the death certificate so we can get a headstone for his grave and deal with other unclaimed funds.I need a lawyer to help me with this because the vital records department said I needed a court order from the correct legal juristriction. He died in New York. It was many years ago. The owner of the grave never put a headstone on it but we are his children and we want to clear these unresolved matters up. Please help....

My condolences on your loss.

This is a simple matter for a lawyer and I would be happy to assist you. A copy of the marriage certificate and a notarized statement from you that he did not divorce is most of what is necessary.

You are welcome to a consultation at no fee at my offices at 42 west 44th st., NY,NY. Please call for an appointment first. (646) 591-5786
