Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

If a deed reads 50/50 ownership and medicaid is going after one of the owners assets to pay for nursing home needs is the other owner's 50 % ownership in jeoparty. Can medicaid touch his part? We are talking about a private house. ny resident
