Re: can designated power of attoorney select person from another state

Anyone can be your designated attorney, regardless of residence. Depending upon what you want the person to be able to do, from merely being able to sign checks and pay bills, to having full authority to do anything, including having full authority over all of your assets, must be set forth in the document appointing the attorney. A Power of Attorney does not, by itself, authorize medical decisions, so you should have a Health Care Directive (Living Will) also, if you desire. I can assist you with either or both documents if you need someone to prepare them for you. This can be done by e-mail.
