Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

I wish to disinherit my only adult child and his family . what is the proper wording for a ny state will? Must I list the reasons (i.e., emotional cruelty, neglect) in the will?

I suggest that you consult with an attorney to draft your will. The attorney will determine the appropriate language to disinherit your child. There is no need to state the reason for the disinheritance. I must caution you not to prepare the will on your own as your disinherited child may be more likely to contest the will after you die.
