Drawing up a will

I am an American citizen and was

married from 1974 until 1978. We

had no children. My ex husband died

6 years ago. I have a 23 year old

daughter but am not married to her

father. Do I need a will for divorced or

single persons. My assets are in the

USA (New York)

Just because assets are in NY does not mean you should have a will under NY law.

NY will not have jurisdiction unless you are domiciled in NY. Therefore, assuming you do not live and are not domiciled in NY, the will should be drafted under the laws where you live.
