my aunt died in 2004, she left a will
which is still in probate, why does it take so long to distribute to family members mention in the will?

The amount of time that has past seems unusual, but it depends upon the complexity of the estate. I suggest that you have an attorney contact the lawyer representing the estate to make inquiries on your behalf. You may contact me, if you wish to discuss the matter.

It depends on what is being distributed. If the distribution is cash, then yes, it is too long. If the distribution is from a business, or commercial property or a personal injury action, the amount of time may be proper.
