Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

I was the executor of my brothers estate. He died 16 years ago. I am now being sued in Florida because apparently he was the beneficiary of our estranged fathers estate. Am I now responsible for his debts, someone I haven't seen in over 40 years?

More facts are needed. What is the claim about? When was it brought? Is there is Statute of Limitations issue possibly? Until more information about the suit is known, a reply is difficult.
