Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
executor confused after parents death
My dad wrote a Revocable Living Trust. After my fathers death in 2004, I notified all the accounts of his death. I called the attorney who wrote it, told him what I did and he said ''looks like you did everything'' Never heard from him again. Did I handel this correct? It would seem after my dad spent time and money on a living trust that I should have gone thru a judicial process. PS. I'm in NY, but the trust and property is in CA.

Re: executor confused after parents death
Presuming all assets were registered in the name of the Trust, it seems you handled this properly. However, if there are any assets not registered in the Trust, like a car, furnishings, etc., a Will probate may be needed so the Executor can handle these items. More facts are required.
