In brief, if this person attempts to litigate any aspect of the Will, they lose the potential inheritance and only get $1. This provision is intended to prevent any litigation by someone intended to be disinherited but who may have a legitimate interest in the estate, and assures no inheritance will be received if the probate is contested. Some states do not recognize these types of clauses, but NY currently does.
