our father died in 1988.we were informed that he has funds totaling about $30,000.there was no executor named and he had 6 children...mom died 5 yrs ago.How or who can get these funds...he lived in ny where 3 children still reside and 3 reside in pa thank you

Your first step is to petition the local Surrogate's Court for letters of administration over your father's estate. You may have to complete a similar procedure for your mother's estate. After that, you'll probably need to contact the State Comptroller, Dept of Unclaimed Funds. Feel free to contact my office for a brief complimentary consultation.
