Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
My father and mother divorced when i was very young. They both remarried. At the time of his death in 1998, he had been a correctional officer in New York state for 17 years. My step mother passed away in 2007. I was told recently that she never collected his pension or social security because she was already collecting her first husband's pension. Is there a way for myself to collect on this? I now live in California and I am 45 years old. thank you

You also should see if there are unclaimed funds in his name. There should have been a death benefit.
