Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My father passed on april 2010. There were 4 siblings, I'm executrixx of my dad will. Dad only

owned 3family house, 1 acrea land in Nc...that's about it. Now other 3 sibblings contesting the will

because dad made me exexutrixx. However I hired a lawyer, now he wants 20 pieces of information

about dad, to probate dad will what information do I possibly need? I I only have copies of deed to house, land etc. What possibly info do I need for my lawyer...I don't reside in ny, I live in NC

My dad lived in NY. I don't have access to dads home since the burial, the will has not been

probated yet, however the lawyer has the will, but he needs 20 peices of other information ?

Thank You

Sandra

I do not know why he needs 20 pieces of information for the probate. All he needs is the original Will and a death certificate. You do not explain what the attorney asked for that comprises 20 pieces of information. On what grounds are the siblings contesting the Will? If the Will is not probated, the estate will pass by intestacy (dieing without a Will) and anynfamily member can be appointed administrator. Bottom line is the same either way - probate or administration. Is fighting this worth the expense? This is a response to an Internet question and the reply is not intended to be legal advice or as creating an attorney-client relationship.
