Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
My father passed away in August of 2012 in NY. He has a trust fund with money in UBS. He was mentally ill and did not sign papers naming me a partial beneficiary. I am his only next of kin. He was going to sign papers but died beforehand. He was paranoid to sign because he thought his family was going to put him in a mental hospital. The trust reverted back to his 2 wealthy sisters. I do have a certificate of voluntary administration because I had to get his apartment unsealed by police when he died there. The NY Surrogate's Court said I could get an amended certificate to see his paperwork. His sisters are not very nice and are very wealthy. Am I entitled to see what he had in his trust with an amended certificate? It is for a substantial amount.

An inter vivos trust is not part of an estate subject to administration. If you were able to get access to your father's apartment. why didn't you look for statements and documents from UBS. As the administrator of your father's estate, you should be collecting assets and paying debts.
