Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

my father past away and the woman he was with for 38 yrs but never married too was left in the will the house that they lived in. She is now charging his estate with the utility bills that were billed after he past away and she was living there, she also purchased homeowners insurance on this house and is billing his estate, is his estate responsible for these debts? This is going on in the state of New York. Also my fathers house was paid for and he previously never had insurance on the property

The estate is responsible for the reasonable expenses of the house until the will is probated and the assets distributed to the beneficiaries. The estate may have an offset for the reasonable rental value of the premises. You may wish to consult an experienced probate lawyer in your area.

I agree with Arnold, but there might be an offset from her in lieu of rent in the interim. Was any of this covered by the Will itself?
