Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

How do I find out if there is a will for a deceased parent and what if there is a will and the attorney holding it dies? How does one then find out about if there is a will?

If there is a will and the attorney holding the document dies, you may contact the County's Public Administrator to determine if the County is holding the will. You may also contact the Surrogate's Court to determine if the will is being held for safe keeping.

I agree, adding that if nthe Will has already been submitted for probate, the Surrogatecan provide you a copy for a nominal fee, or you can view it the Surrogate's Office.
