PRESEUMING ALL OF MIKE'S SUGGESTIONS DO NOT PAN OUT, A SIMPLE ADVERTISMENT IN THE LEGAL NOTICES SECYION OF A LOCAL PAPER, STATING SOMETHING LIKE "ANYONE HAVING INFORMATION ABOUT A LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF "xx", PLEASE CONTACT (YOUR INFORMATION)" MIGHT GET SOME RESULT.

Re: How do I find a will.
There is no law in NY requiring a will to be filed. However, a will may be filed with the local Surrogate's Court. Therefore, I would check with that court.
I would also contact the decedent's lawyer, accountant, friends, and close family. It is possible that they would know where the will is located.
Mike.
