Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My friend died and had no next of kin. She left 2 cats. Am I allowed to get the male neutered then rehome them?

Assuming you are neither the executor nor administrator, technically you are not entitled to any of your friend's property. However, you may contact animal control from the local government and have them intervene.

I agree that you p[robably do not have any legal authority. I suggest you contact an organization like SPCA or one of the local animal shelters and see what suggestions they have or what they might do.
