Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
Need a good lawyer in Rochester N.Y.
Executor of the trust is with holding heirlooms and information.
Wants release signed befor relasing info, and heirlooms

I am sorry for your loss. It is not unusual for executors to withhold inheritance pending execution of certain documents which include a release. Executors are required to report certain things to the Court and these forms are part of this requirement.
As a practical matter it becomes difficult to get folks to return the paperwork in a timely manner when there is no "motivation" to do so.
If you are concerned about specific issues with the distribution (i.e., property hidden, will not being complied with, etc) then you should speak with an attorney. If you are satisfied that the conditions in the will are being fulfilled, then this is just a routine step in the process. Feel free to call if you have specific questions or issues unresolved.....
