Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
Inheritance
My husband bought a house in his name only (before we were married). He also owns land in the State of Florida. I would like to know should something happen to him, does this automatically go to me (his wife). Must I go to court, etc.?) Can you offer me any advice?

The property will not automatically pass to you. The only way it will automatically pass to you is to have the ownership changed to both of your names as "joint tenants with rights of survivorship."
