i inherited a building , my lawyer arranged to put the house in my name. I am paying the taxes over the last three years . this is fine except i never received a deed for the property. my lawyer is no longer my lawyer, what can I do.

Assuming the property is located within the five boroughs of New York City, you may access the deed via the internet on the City's ACRIS website.
You will need to go to:
http://a836-acris.nyc.gov/Scripts/Coverpage.dll/index
Click on Search Property Records then choose Parcel Identifier and enter the borough, block and lot.

The deed should have been filed in the County Clerk's office.
A copy can be obtained from the County Clerk for a nominal fee.
