Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
inheriting credit card debt through a will

debt through my mother's Will. 30-thou is "mortgage"
debt, 20-thou is numerous credit card or "consumer"
debts. I'm looking to refinance in order to pay off
property liens, but can't afford to pay off credit

Re: inheriting credit card debt through a will
Debt cannot be inherited. However, to the extent the person died with sufficient assets to satisfy his/her debts, the debts have to be satisfied. You may want to consult with an attorney.
